Champix should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Champix might make you feel dizzy or sleepy (while on alcohol)
and so could harm your ability to perform potentially hazardous
tasks such as driving or operating machinery. Patients are
suggested not to drive, operate complex machinery or engage in
other potentially hazardous activities until it is known whether
this medical product affects their ability to perform these
activities and also it is important to tell your doctor or
pharmacist what medicines before you are taking, including those
bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you
start treatment with this medicine. At the end of treatment,
discontinuation of champix was associated with an increase in
irritability, urge to smoke, depression, and insomnia in up to
3% of patients. The doctor should tell the patient accordingly
and discuss or consider the need for dose tapering. In case of
overdose, typical supportive measures should be instituted as
required. Other medicines containing the equal active ingredient
so there is no alternative medicines available that contain
varenicline as the active ingredient.
